I have been using a Walker Turner 16" drill press with an x y table for milling for over 5 years now. I have never had an end mill slip out of the chuck. I do not take any cuts heavier than .015 though, and the closest I can hold is + or .003. So it does take a lot longer to make some things than if it was an actual milling machine.
